Anyone had it done? If so what kind and what were your after effects?

************************************************************************

Well I went and talked to my doctor today. She is going to do a laparoscopy coupled with the ablation at the same time to hopefully remove any scar tissue she can, laser endometrial tissue growing on the out side of my uterus and cauterizing the lining on the inside to hopefully stop/or lessen my period now. I have to get a shot of lupron one month prior to shrink the lining of my uterus in hopes of cauterizing as much as they can. N0ot really looking forward t hot flashes, mood swings etc. DH went with me and he said...."cant be too much worse than her feeling bad already right? The dr started chuckling.........Hopefully I can swing it with one month of this. :D So wish me luck.........I have horrendous pain and I really hope this works out for me. My previous laposcoies did me good for about a year so Im hoping........

Not yet, but finally got my approval just before I moved.

I remember a few here raving about their outcomes and a couple saying they needed the hysterectomy anyhow.

I know a few ladies who've had it done. My SIL ended up with a hysterectomy anyway, but the other two have not had anything more that I know of.

Funny that you mentioned this. I was just at the dr's yesterday inquiring about it.

Doc said minor period-like discomfort after the 15 minute procedure and you walk out when you're done. Recovery is apparently a breeze. He also recommended getting a shot of Lupron 3-4 weeks prior to the surgery. He explained it to me but I can't regurgitate it...you'd have to google.

Lupron shrinks your uterus and makes your lining thinner....Are you thinking of getting it done?

I just emailed my dr telling her to sign me up for ablation coupled with a laporoscopy to laser all my lining off the outside of my uterus and bowels. Hopefully I dont have alot of scar tissure from last time they did the laproscopy, but I wonder if she can do both at the same time?

J, I know my Dr does this www.novasure.com in her office. She seems to really like it and be happy with results. Maybe look into it?

Had it done in early 2004.
No periods ~or~ problems since

One thing i will say- is that you might have an unpleasant odor for a few weeks post.
After all~your uterus lining is being burned.

Had it done in July and results have been horrible! I leaked fluid for more than a month.......to the point I was soaking through super sized pads. Had numerous yeast infections because of the "leaking" and always being "moist", still having discharge on and off and irregular periods. Sorry, I think most people have good results. My OB/GYN says my uterus is his nemisis! haha

In the beginning it was pinkish-not like bloody more like watery. After a couple of weeks, it was clear fluid. Dr said it was because of the burning-you know how a sunburn will blister with water blisters-kind of the same concept. So far, I regret having it done, since I've had nothing but problems. Not to say that you would have the same result, just be advised that it can happen. I'm considering haveing my uterus out now. If I would have know, I could have put the $800.00 I had to pay out of pocket (after insurance paid) toward that surgery with better results.

The ablation is not sterilization. You can still get pregnant after the procedure and its very dangerous for you and baby if you do get pregnant. I had this procedure done in February and I also have had a horrible experience. The discharge for weeks and weeks sucks. My periods are still heavy (the only problem this procedure is good for is heavy bleeding) and to top it all off now I am having extreme pelvic pain. My dr believes my pain is a complication from the surgery. I either have built up scar tissue or I am having a complication called post-ablation tubal ligation syndrome which is related to the fact that I had a tubal years ago. I will be getting a hysterectomy as soon as I can take time off from my new job. Needless to say having this procedure done was a HUGE mistake for me.

Uterine Ablation was also a mistake for me. My periods went from being heavy for 7 days, to being heavy for 5 days. Not worth it.

Since the surgery I suffer from horrible endometriosis pain. Before the ablation I was one of the lucky ones that never had a menstrual cramp...EVER! But I guess this is God's way of saying not to mess with what he's created...?

I do not recommend for anyone. There are no guarantees with this surgery.

I had it done this past April. The recovery sucked in that you literally leak some kind of liquid for 6-8wks. After that each month seems to get better as for flow and duration. This month mine lasted only TWO days and I could just get away with a lite tampon. WELL worth it now. I did cuss many times during the recovery tho.
I had Novasure.
