| Getting a BA in a few weeks. Based on your experience with recovery and post-BA life, do you think that I can hide my BA from family and friends? I've been wearing a padded bra for 2 years, I dress conservatively and am not going very large (under 300-350cc). I do not expect them to be supportive if they found out, and I've sworn my husband to secrecy. Thanks! |

| I'm in the same situation! My family is very old school italian and even though my father is kind of OKAY with me getting a BA, all my extended family wont be. My ps said over sized sweaters would do the trick. |

I'm worried about this one too... I think Bellezza is spot on, a good somewhat baggy sweater or sweat shirt should do it for you while you're healing up.
My best friend had BA several years ago, and she was wearing such padded bras anyway so none of her coworkers had any idea (she had to wear a uniform). until one of her "friends" that she worked with decided to tell them all! I think someone else spilling the beans is more likely to be the problem than anyone actually noticing.

| i think u could totally hide ur BA if u dont go too large for ur body..i have heard (dont have my BA yet) that they are very easy to hide and actually ppl go bigger bc they feel they look too small in clothes. |

| Ella - I have found that the bras by Ambrielle are quite padded and give a nice shape. |

| Ladies, I am two weeks out and everyone keeps asking me if I had it done-since I told everyone! I am not at all noticable and am not trying to hide anything. Padded bras do their job, so I believe you will be just fine with whatever you choose. |

i have the same concern!! :(.
i dont want it to be SUPER obvious, but i don't want to get small sized implants, and redo em later cus i'm unhappy :/
i currently wear padded pushup bras from Fredericks of hollywood that make me look HUGE. so i plan on not wearing anything padded or pushed up after surgery, so it looks the same? i hope no one realizes..
i work with a buncha old gossipy ladies :( |

I am not a woman, but as a plastic surgeon I have seen many women go through this exact process you are going through. On a practical level, other posters have given you excellent advice re. loose clothing and padded bras. For your own peace of mind, I will tell you that a 300-350 cc implant will hardly be noticed in clothes, unless you are very short and slender. On a more general level, I will tell you that preoperatively many women are very concerned about their relatives and co workers reactions. While they do matter, you will find that their reactions are usually not as strong as you fear. Secondly, after the surgery most of your own concerns fade. Then one day, all alone after taking a bath and looking at yourself in the mirror, you will decide whether they were the right size, too big, or too small. My experience tells me 97% of patients wish they had gone a little larger.
Hope this helps! |

I'm 5'3" and 100 lbs. is that short and slender enough to be noticeable? I am going 350, but I don't want to look like I look now...

I have to tell you that even if people don't notice you will think they do and this will bother you. You will end up hiding your body and will feel self concious about it. I had the same worries and although you can hide them in certain clothes there are times when people will notice (tank tops, bathing suits, low cut shirts, etc.) I am now scheduled to have mine removed. I wanted a smaller implant and the first PS who had decided I had too much skin for a small implant and decided to put bigger ones in. I was originally a 34b and ended up with 34D. I only wanted a small C. I have a small frame. I'm 5'3", 105 pds. I ended up mortified and tried to hide them but really couldn't. I know people had to notice. They were 475's. I had 2 more redos and ended up with 275's and I am still uncomfortable with them. I feel they are noticable. They fit my body better but I hate the fact that people will know. I also had some other problems with them so I am now scheduled to have them removed. Now I will probably be a 34A and I am sure people will notice the difference. My advice to you is if it's something you have to hide you're not comfortable with it, so make sure you want to do this. It may not be worth your worrying everyday that someone will notice. You will know in your heart what to do. Follow your heart! Good luck to you.quote: Originally posted by LaurenV

| Very new to this site...first posting. I have been wanting a BA for a long time and now that I'm 40 I think I might be too old. I'm also scared because someone told me that if you get this done you will have to go under every 10 years to redu some things. Is this true? I don't want to be put under in my 50's and 60's - that is way to dangerous. Need some help here. Is this true? |

| You can definately minimize. Its all about how you wear em...ie loose clothes! I also did the extra padding prior so as to minimize the transition from nothing to something. |

| I've been wearing super padded bras forever, so hopefully noone notices mine. I work with a bunch of women in a somewhat small town, so the word would spread and I totally don't want anyone talking about my breasts! |

| I'm almost 2 years post op and no one in my family knows except my sis because I told her. I used to get paranoid when I hugged my parents but no one has said anything and they certainly would if they were suspicious. As long as your not going on any family vacations that involve a bikini I think you're fine:) |

Hi LaurenV! I felt the same way you are feeling--and actually had mine probably around the same time. I wanted a modest increase so as to not draw too much attention. I wanted enough to make me feel like a woman again after birthing and nursing 3 kiddos. Now, I wish I had gotten a little more! Yes, it's boobie greed! I had 350cc silicones, and now I'm wondering what 375 or even 400 would've been like....c'est la vie. It's done, and I'll never be able to afford a redo. I'm happy that I was able to get what I have here. So, just a note to anyone about to have the surgery, a little more than what you think you want is better! :) (At least for me!) |
