Dr. Ricardo L. Rodriguez
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Rodriguez has been practicing at GBMC hospital in Baltimore for fourteen years, where he is now Chief of the Plastic Surgery Department. He was trained in Plastic Surgery at Yale University Medical School . After completing his residency he was invited to become a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Yale, where he taught residents reconstructive and cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Rodriguez is Board Certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. In continuing with his academic dedication, Dr. Rodriguez currently serves as a clinical instructor in the Johns Hopkins Plastic Surgery department, teaching innovative techniques in cosmetic surgery to residents of the Plastic Surgery Clinic.
While teaching at Yale University Medical School, he traveled to several countries to learn surgical techniques from internationally acclaimed plastic surgeons. In France, he trained with Dr. Claude Lassus, who developed more than 30 years ago, the vertical breast reduction technique. Dr. Rodriguez has incorporated Dr. Lassus's technique as his standard for breast reduction surgery. In England, he was awarded a Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery with Professor Westbury at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
Dr. Rodriguez recently served as President of the Maryland State Society of Plastic Surgeons, John Stage Davis, and is an active ASPS member. He has published many articles in medical journals and has been invited to lecture on various Plastic Surgery topics at the local, national and international level.
He received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed a five year General Surgery residency at Tulane University in 1985. His educational background not only includes the study of medicine, as he graduated from Colgate University in 1976 with Honors in French Literature. Dr. Rodriguez is fully fluent in French, Spanish, and English.
Dr. Rodriguez has attracted patients from the Eastern Seaboard, the Caribbean, and Europe and has performed thousands of medical and cosmetic procedures. His surgical patients have included doctors and nurses. His hobbies are computing, sculpting, and biking. He is happily married for 20 years and has a daughter attending Princeton and a son in high school.
