After achieving his B.S. in Physics, Dr. Semlacher completed his medical school and internship. Following extensive Cardiovascular, Thoracic and General Surgical training (5yrs), he then completed his Plastic Surgery residency.
During this time he displayed the leadership qualities and technical proficiency to attain the prominent position of Chief Resident of Plastic Surgery (1994) and was also awarded a prestigious recognition of significant contributions in the field of burn treatment. He further refined his cosmetic surgical skills and experience by undertaking post-graduate Cosmetic Fellowship training in Southern California as well as spending time with a respected surgeon in Hawaii.
Dr. Semlacher lectures internationally and is also involved in clinical basic science research. Presently, he is involved in a study investigating if a certain homeopathic medicine decreases post-operative pain in breast augmentation patients. He is also involved in studies investigating topical vitamin C and wound healing as well as pioneering radial artery reconstruction in cardiac bypass patients.
The Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery accepted a recent paper for publication authored by Dr. Semlacher.
