Welcome to my virtual office. Beauty is about being whole and complete. Our comfort level with our bodies affects the degree to which we can be fully self-expressed and engaged in the full pursuit of life ... supporting our growth and development or keeping us separate from all that we can be. I offer this web site as an invitation to get to know me and the members of my team, all of whom support my commitment to provide extraordinary care to our patients. I offer myself, my talents and skills, and a commitment to making a difference in your life. I do so in the spirit of cooperation, partnership and exploration in your own pursuit of excellence. This site provides a glimpse into the world of plastic surgery and the possibilities that are available to you. It provides information about me, my staff, our facility, various procedures (and their risks and benefits), payment options and other resources for you about healing, skin care and general well being. I am honored by my patients' trust in me. I know that trust is not created in a single moment, so let's begin the journey together now. I invite you to call my office at (858) 450-0440 here in La Jolla, California, to arrange a consultation with me so I can listen to your concerns, educate you about what is available for you and make recommendations. I look forward to meeting you and being part of your transformation process. Warmly, Carol Hollan, MD |
About You
It is natural to make an almost immediate connection between how we see ourselves, and how we feel about our ourselves. If we experience part of our bodies as less than adequate, we cannot feel whole and complete. We may hold back from others and even ourselves, because of feeling that something is missing or 'doesn't fit.'
Self-Esteem & Self-Confidence
Frequently, a relatively small change on the outside can lead to a significant shift on the inside.
Improvement, Not Perfection
Plastic surgery deals in improvement, not perfection. If your expectations are realistic and you are doing it for the "right reasons," the chances are excellent that you will be pleased with the results.
Realistic Expectations
Whatever your reasons for choosing plastic surgery, it is important to have realistic expectations. Improving a feature of the face or body may give you greater self-confidence and add to your sense of well-being, but it is not a guarantee of happiness or better relationships. Surgery can enhance your appearance. The rest is up to you.
Key Questions
To help you decide if your expectations are realistic and if surgery is the right choice for you, ask yourself:
- Is this procedure to your advantage emotionally and physically?
- Why do you want this procedure?
- What do you expect it will do for you physically, emotionally, socially?
- What expectations do you share with others?
- What would you choose not to share with others, and why?
- Is your concern out of proportion to what others think about it?
- Do you expect the procedure to improve your relationships?
- If you are in psychotherapy, have you discussed plastic surgery with your therapist?
New Vitality
Through cosmetic surgery, people are changing their lives every day. Although the face and body may show improvements, it is the heart and soul that receive new vitality.
About Us
Making the Perfect Choice
Dr. Hollan and her entire staff are committed to caring for you completely on your journey of physical transformation. Along the way, they will inform and educate you, provide written and visual information, as well as patient references. Begin with a Consultation
Many people hesitate to make an appointment for a consultation before doing their 'homework,' believing they need to know what they want or need prior to even seeing the surgeon. We invite you to come in and meet with Dr. Hollan to discuss your needs, desires and expectations. Your medical history, age, anatomy and special concerns will be reviewed to determine which treatments or procedures will provide the greatest benefit. Together with Dr. Hollan, you will be given the opportunity to decide whether to, when to, and how to proceed. If you decide to proceed, Dr. Hollan and her staff and anesthesiologist will provide pre-operative information, available resources, precautions to take to ensure the best possible results, expectations during recovery and a written estimate of the costs involved.
