Rice and Water Test
by Astrid

Hello! It’s been quite a few newsletters since my last article. By popular demand, this is the topic for this month’s article…the “rice and water” tests.

Many women ask how can they find out approximately what amount of cc’s they want and hear that they need to do either the “water test” or the “rice test”. You might find it funny to do this but it will help you feel a bit more comfortable with your upcoming new size. Remember to purchase a bra in the size you want to be (something cheap from Wal-Mart or Target will do) so that you have the right size to put on with the rice or water baggies.

Personally, I did the rice test and walked around for about a week with those puppies on. I am glad I did so because the size wasn’t so shocking as I initially thought it would be. Another thing is it helped camouflage the change (good if you are trying to hide your BA procedure from anyone).

So, with no further ado, here is the way to do the two tests at home…

Rice Test:

This test is what is preferred because the rice weight gives you a better idea of how much weight from the implants you may expect to gain. Find a pair of knee high stockings or regular panty hose. Cut off the foot area and use that part for the rice. You will measure out the following in order to achieve the amount of cc's... 7oz. of rice will put you at 210cc's starting. Add 1oz. for about 30cc's to achieve the size that you want. After this, tie the end off and place them in your bra.

Water Test:

I understand that this test is not the preferred test because it is a little more difficult to do and the weight is not as accurate. Here is how to do the water test based on the amount of cc's you may want.

Find two sandwich baggies (old style preferred or ziplock). Using a measuring cup that has milliliters on the other side, fill it to the amount in which you are considering (1ml = 1cc). Close the baggie w/ a twisty tie or rubber band (make sure it doesn't leak, lol). Place the baggies in the bra of your choosing (if you want to be a 34D, find a cheap bra and buy it for this purpose). I would strongly recommend placing a sports bra over if you are going under the muscle. This will give you an idea of the projection you may have.

**If you are going under the muscle, I would also place the sports bra on top to minimize the projection. Wear these around for the next few days. The initial size may shock you but trust me, you get use to it quickly! Please remember this isn’t an exact science so there may be an actual difference in the final cc’s and the ones you believe to be what you want from having done this test. To ensure accuracy, discuss the results with your Plastic Surgeon!
