Tammy’s
Story

I FINALLY DONE IT!!
I am a thirty-year-old, single mom of two beautiful girls
and finally after years of wanting breast augmentation,
made the best decision of my life.
From the age of twelve, I began to notice how different
I looked from all the other girls in school. I became very
self-conscious about how my breasts were not growing. I
didn't get the opportunity to go shopping for bras with
my mother as all the other girls did. I became jealous
of the other girls’ stories and began to wear big shirts
to hide the fact that I had no breasts.
The self-consciousness continued through high school and
my teen years. The prom, beach weekend, homecoming, junior
dances all scared me to death because I was ashamed of
how small my breasts were and afraid of how I would look
in clothes that were supposed to be special for the special
occasions.
Victoria’s Secret became my best friend. I purchased every
air, water, padded and underwire bra I could find. They
made me feel somewhat better but I was never completely
satisfied. After I got married I began to look into getting
breast augmentation but was afraid, because this was around
the time that the silicone scare was being flashed across
every TV screen in the world. My husband at the time also
didn’t feel it was such a great idea. He said he didn’t
want other guys looking at me. Today, I understand that
was his own selfishness talking. Two children and a divorce
later I finally made the commitment.
I had the surgery two weeks before I turned thirty. The
age of thirty was a turning point in my life and I felt
like I should do what made me feel good about myself. The
fact that my youngest brother was getting married and I
was a member of the wedding party also played a huge part
in the decision. All of the girls in the wedding party
went for a fitting and I left the fitting crying all the
way home. The dresses were very low cut and with myself
only being barely an A cup, I was devastated. Over the
years, I had asked friends and talked with women who had
breast augmentation surgery for advice. After many hours
of research and one on one consultation, I made my decision
and found the perfect surgeon.
The consultation was terrific. They made me feel comfortable
and actually listened to what I had to say. We discussed
why I was considering the surgery and what made me feel
the way I did about myself. In a sense, we discussed my
feelings and me. I have never been to a doctor and been
asked why it was important to me. I knew I had found the
right surgeon. Because it was so important to me to have
this done in time for the wedding, I was put on a list
to be scheduled for surgery if anyone canceled or had to
change their appointment. In order to do this, after my
consultation I went down and had my blood work done right
away. It also made me feel better about the surgery because
the office of the surgeon I chose was on the top floor
of the hospital. If any complications arose I would be
in the best possible care there was and right at the hospital.
This reassured me that everything would be okay.
Thank God for miracles because I was able to have the
surgery three weeks before my brothers wedding and I must
say I looked great and felt even better. I had no bruising,
very little swelling and took only one pain pill after
the surgery. I went back to work three days after the surgery
and never missed a beat. It was the best thing I have ever
done for myself. Watching myself go from barely an A cup
to a full C is wonderful. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
It has made me feel like a new person. I feel great and
would refer my plastic surgeon to anyone, for he is the
best.
