Virginia’s Story

August contest winner

After breastfeeding three children and losing a bunch of weight my breasts were empty droopy sacks of skin. It was time to find a plastic surgeon and my research began.

I spent all my time obsessing about boobs, talking to friends who had them done and surfing the net. I got many referrals for doctors my friends had used. I contacted all the doctors via phone and web, looking at all the before and after pictures I could. Some I liked and some I didn't. I finally chose to call Dr. Keiter in Utah.

His nurse recommended I come to BI411 and talk to the other girls here for support. I live in Colorado so I never actually met the Dr. until the morning of surgery. I was talking to them on a Thursday trying to schedule an appointment. They were pretty booked out and I was starting to get discouraged. So I set the date for the soonest appointment they had.

Well, later that day I received a call from the PS's office stating someone had canceled their appointment for the following week, and would I want to take it. WOOOO HOOO! "YES"! I was so excited and scared at the same time.

The day we were scheduled to leave Colorado to Utah my husband got a terrible cold. He was supposed to be my other driver there and my sole driver back. That night about 10pm I tucked my sick husband into the back of my Impala with the seats down and headed to Wal-Mart for some remedies, juice and a humidifier for him to make it the whole trip.

My surgery was scheduled for 7am the next morning so I had to drive straight through by myself, that wasn't so bad, but I couldn't eat or drink after midnight. Anyone who has ever driven long distances can understand how difficult this really was, but it did cut down on my potty breaks!

Finally we were in Utah 20 minutes before my appointment. I woke hubby up and we used our computer to find out where the office really was. Upon entering the office my nerves really kicked in, "Was I making the right choice"? "Am I being vain"?

"Gina" I heard my name called and it was my turn. We followed the nurse back into a cold (or is it just me) room and she instructed me to undress and wear this gown thingy. Dr. Keiter came in and explained what I was to expect and looked at my pathetic boobs for the first time in person. This part was weird for me to have another man touching my breasts while my husband sat and watched, a little uncomfortable.

Dr. Keiter was drawing on me and moving my nipple around explaining that he needs to lift the nipple up. I took some pills and we talked about size. I was dead set on a natural "C" cup, but my husband kept saying "if you are gonna go to all this trouble, you might as well get a "D" cup" (this from a man who was a leg/butt man and didn't care about boobs).

It was time to say goodbye. We kissed and they wheeled me into the room. I had chosen twilight, so no need to go completely under. Wow those pills really relaxed me, not to mention I hadn't slept the night before. I was semi-conscious during the whole surgery, and I attempted to talk to the nurses. I felt like I was having a full conversation, but the truth is I don't know how I sounded.

During the surgery I felt tugging and pressure, once I even felt a little pain so Dr. Keiter gave me another local in that spot. The whole thing went by really fast, and I was wheeled into the recovery room. Finally I get to sleep! I really have no idea how long I was asleep, but I woke to my husband’s face looking over me. During surgery and my recovery he had reserved us a motel close by and filled all my prescriptions.

Upon awaking I realized Dr. Keiter was due to come to my room any time now for a post op appointment. I must look terrible I thought, so I went to the bathroom and put my hair in the best ponytail I could muster and brushed my teeth, as if he expected to see me all cleaned up and looking great. Dr. Keiter was pleased with the results and we got the A-OK to leave.

I don't remember much of the drive back, but boy was I happy to see my kids when we picked them up. The following weeks were only hard for me because I wasn't allowed to do anything. I am not the type to sit around my house and watch people take care of me. I started driving day 4 and resumed my normal activities as soon as I could. I never had too much pain, just a lot of pressure; kind of like nursing boobs when you're engorged.

Here I am not quite two years later and I wouldn't change anything. My confidence has soared through the roof and I stand taller. I achieved the natural look I wanted and hubby got the "D" cup he asked for. I am still an active member on BI411 forum helping other girls along their journey of breast augmentation. That’s my story!
